“Hot ‘n’ Cole: A Cole Porter Celebration!” featuring Maria Wirries
Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota presents soprano Maria Wirries and seven outstanding young performers from Penn State University’s Musical Theatre program in “Hot ‘n’ Cole: A Cole Porter Celebration,” Sunday, May 14, 3:00 p.m., at the Sarasota Opera House, 61 N. Pineapple Avenue, Sarasota. In celebration of the genius of Cole Porter, these eight outstanding young artists will take audiences on a spirited journey through the best of the renowned American songwriter’s works. “Hot ‘n’ Cole” features fresh, contemporary arrangements of such Cole Porter classics as “Night and Day,” “At Long Last Love,” “In the Still of the Night,” “It’s Too Darn Hot,” and much more. 22nd Annual Loveland Show
Venice Theatre and the Loveland Center have been partnering for 20 years to provide adults with developmental disabilities the chance to grow and learn through theatre study. Loveland students, under the direction of professional staff and with help from community volunteers, rehearse all season to present this full-scale musical on MainStage. The Loveland Players are heading to the gambling capitol of the world in their brand-new show, "Las Vegas … Under the Neon Lights." Join them in Sin City, where spontaneous marriages are expected and where one Elvis isn’t enough. Who knows what kind of trouble – financial or otherwise – this cast of colorful characters will get themselves into?

39th Siesta Fiesta
A celebration of every medium of art is taking place April 29 - 30 during the 39th Annual Siesta Fiesta. Returning to its original location along Ocean Boulevard and surrounding lots, the Siesta Fiesta features life-size sculptures, spectacular paintings, one-of-a-kind jewels, photography, ceramics and more. The free, outdoor event takes place from 10 am to 5 pm both days and includes a full craft and green market with delicious edibles, live plants and whimsical and practical handmade-in-the-U.S.A. products from the nation’s top craft artisans.
