The Manatee River Garden Club is sponsoring its 12th annual garden tour, "Bradenton in Bloom" on Saturday, April 1 from 10 am - 4 pm. Take a self-guided tour of 5 lovely gardens in Bradenton. "1964: The Tribute" takes ites audiences on a musical journey to a nostalgic era in rock history. In an authentic and endearing tribute, the group recreates early live Beatles' concerts from 1964, with period clothing, hairstyles, and onstage banter. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' historic Carnegie Hall appearance. They look and sound like The Beatles. The performance, professionalism and musicianship make the illusion complete. Band members are Mark Benson as John Lennon, Graham Alexander as Paul McCartney, Tom Work as George Harrison, and Bobby Potter as Ringo Starr.

2017 Heritage Days Open House
This event celebrating Manatee County's history will feature heritage artisans, live performances, demonstrations, food vendors, and make-and-take crafts. We will also be having our second annual HAIRitage Days Beard and Mustache Competition. Men, women, and children are invited to participate. There will be categories for real facial hair and fake beards and mustaches. Winners will receive a $50 gift card. Don't miss special performances in our 1887 Old Meeting House by the GoodVibes and the St. Pete Sea Shanties. The GoodVibes will give a lively, interactive, family friendly performance, "The Good Old Days - from The Gay 90's to World War I ". They will show historical photographs from downtown Bradenton and play songs popular in the eras the photographs depict. The St. Pete Sea Shanties sing traditional tunes sung by sailors, fishermen and dockworkers during the Age of Sail (ca. 1571—1862).

2017 Teen Recycled Fashion Show
Live it or see it Saturday, April 22, 2017, 1 to 3 PM, at Downtown Central Library (along Riverwalk). Manatee County Public Libraries’ popular award-winning event, in collaboration with The Friends of the Library and Keep Manatee Beautiful, gives teenagers the opportunity to live the day in the life of a fashion designer and/or model. Contestants make their own original fashion using recycled or repurposed materials and present their creation on the runway in front of a live audience where a panel of judges select a winner based on creativity, presentation and use of recycled materials. Contestants must be no younger than 13 and no older than 19 and can submit as an individual or as a group. They may model their own creations or find a model to wear the piece. The day includes hair styling and makeup done for free for contestants and their models. Make up is being donated by Brandy Harlan of Mary Kay Cosmetics. The Teen Recycled Fashion Show is the 2016 recipient of the Florida Library Association’s Betty Davis Miller Youth Services Award, which recognizes innovative or outstanding youth programs, and a 2015 recipient of a Recycling Award from Keep Manatee Beautiful, a non-profit organization committed to making Manatee County a cleaner and more beautiful environment. #manafash2017

2nd Annual Edible Book Contest- Manatee County Public Library
The 2nd Annual Edible Book Contest is coming up on Saturday April 8th at 11am at Rocky Bluff Library for ages 0-100! The only rule is that the entry must be completely edible and represent a book. Prizes include: trophies & custom totes and/ or apron filled with baking supplies. Day of activities Manatee lettuce toss game (cornhole), photo booth, food craft, coloring, demo, cake served as well. Onlookers vote for their favorite entry!. No registration needed ALL ages welcome!
