Otep

Rock, Metal
Otep got its start in 2000, when singer/band namesake Otep Shamaya combined her Marilyn Manson-meets-Kim Gordon style of vocals with three other musicians in Los Angeles. Rumors of involvement in the mystical arts helped create a mysterious image, and they found success in 2002 after joining the Ozzfest Tour. In 2010, Otep was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for "Outstanding Music Artist" for the album 'Smash the Control Machine' during the 21st GLAAD Media Awards.
